Since day one, the volunteers, their energy and commitment have been the prime force behind MATI. Volunteers are on our board, work in classrooms and assist artists. In recent classes, volunteers assisted a photographer in the dark room and helped kids create research, persuasive papers and haiku poems. They provide computer assistance in our 3-D animation class and chaperone on field trips.
Besides providing literary assistance, volunteers help create focus and share from their own experiences. Sometimes the best thing a volunteer can do for a child is to simply listen.
Classroom volunteers give 2-to-4 hours per week during a school session. Their presence, caring and attention to kid's needs continually demonstrate to each child the possibility for their personal success. Sure the kids benefit, but a volunteer who tutors or mentors gets even more.

I have learned a little more about the arts and quite a bit more
about individuals. It has been a very rewarding experience for
me. MATI is quite different from anything I have been involved
with in the past.
